District heating

Why is district heating a very good alternative?
ENA Energy’s production facilities are fired with bio fuels and are therefore among the most environmentally-friendly in the country, which is good for the environment both in Enköping and globally.

By producing electricity at the same time that we produce district heating with the help of renewable bio energy, we contribute to a reduction in the global emission levels of carbon dioxide. Because we are able to produce electricity, we reduce the need to import electricity produced from e.g. carbon in Denmark and Germany.

Because we use bio fuel, we are also not dependent upon large amounts of imported fossil fuels.
The amount of electricity that we produce and sell depends upon the heating consumption, which means that the larger the energy output from the district heating network, the more renewable electricity production that will occur. Since we use the income generated by the sale of electricity in order to reduce the price of district heating, we are able to maintain a low energy price.

What sort of price can I expect to see for district heating in the future?
Our goal is to be among the lowest 25 % of district heating networks in terms of price. Historically we have been subject to a smaller price increase than other alternatives (oil, electricity, pellets and heat pumps) and it is our plan to continue to be cheaper than these alternatives in the future as well.

We see that the EU is striving for the development of more district heating and CHP solutions which indicates that district heating should be an affordable alternative.
